How to Share an Amazon Wishlist (and Find Someone Else's)
To share an Amazon wishlist, open the list under Account & Lists, choose the option to invite or share, and copy the view-only link. Here's the full process, plus how to find someone else's list and what to try if yours won't show up.
Amazon changes its menus from time to time, so the labels you see might differ slightly from those here. If something has moved, look in the three-dot or settings menu on your list.
How to share your Amazon wishlist
On a computer
- Sign in to Amazon, and hover over Account & Lists at the top of the page.
- Under Your Lists, click the list you want to share.
- Click Invite or Send list to others, near the top of the list.
- Choose View only if people should just see and buy from it, or View and edit if they should add items too.
- Copy the link, or send it by email, then paste it into a message.
In the Amazon app
- Tap the person icon, and then Your Lists.
- Open the list you want to share.
- Tap the share option, or the three-dot menu, and choose who can view it.
- Send the link through WhatsApp, text or email.
Public, shared or private: which should you choose?
Amazon lists have privacy settings you can change under the list's settings or Manage list. Private means only you can see it. Shared means only people with the link can see it, which is usually what you want for friends and family. Public means anyone can find it by searching for your name or email address, so check that you're comfortable with that first.
If you're sending the list to people who might post gifts to you, also check your shipping address setting. It allows people who buy from your list to send items to you without seeing your full address.
How to find someone else's Amazon wishlist
- Hover over Account & Lists on Amazon, and look for Find a List or Registry.
- Search using the person's name or email address.
- Choose the right person from the results, if their list is public.
If you can't find them, their list is probably set to shared or private, and searching won't turn it up. There's no way around that, so the simplest thing is to ask them for the link. Mentioning that you're buying for them spoils only a small part of the surprise.
Why your Amazon wishlist isn't showing up
- It's set to private. Change it to shared or public in the list's settings, and then share the link again.
- You're sharing the wrong link. Copy the link from the share option, rather than from your browser's address bar, which may only work for you.
- You're searching under a different name. Lists can be listed under an account's name, which may differ from what people expect.
- They're in a different country. Amazon's regional stores are separate. A list on Amazon.com won't automatically work the same way for someone on Amazon.ae or Amazon.in.
When an Amazon list isn't enough
Amazon lists work best when everything you want is on Amazon. Many people's actual wishes aren't: a print from a small shop, shoes from a favorite brand, or a cooking class. And when relatives buy from different places, Amazon can't tell whether a gift's already been bought elsewhere. Duplicate gifts are one result.
A universal list solves both. On GishFy, you can add items from any store, including Amazon, and share one link. A friend taps Gift on an item before buying it, wherever they buy it, and each item can only be gifted once. See our Amazon wishlist alternative page for more, or use the free wishlist maker without signing up.
